Wildfires
Wildfires have been plaguing the West coast and the Pacific Northwest for years now. While many think that it’s solely because of an accidental spark or lightning, the medium that these fires use to spread is caused by much more long-term issues.

Global warming has turned Earth’s atmosphere into a sponge. Instead of providing moist cool air to the surrounding plants and trees, the warm air has caused the atmosphere to suck moisture out of surrounding plants, nature and wildlife. Further the extended seasons cause the natural cycles of ecosystems to be disrupted, causing deadly pests to not die out in winter. Thus leading to more dry leaves and rotten, flammable nature on the ground.
In turn, when so much as a little spark happens multiple square miles go up in flames. And this will keep happening so long as the world is warming.
While fixing it will take centuries, we can engineer our way out of a lot of the problems if we can slow down the rate of global warming. Engaging in activism and climate justice to spread awareness about climate change, as well as being conscious about how your choices affect the world, can meaningfully slow this down and give us a chance to fight back against the fires that are destroying our homes and displacing families.
